MEETING MINUTES 2020

Meeting called to order at 6:34 pm.
Motion called to approve June 2020 minutes by Carolyn, seconded by Michael.
Motion called to approve June 2020 treasurer's report by Michael, seconded by Carolyn.
Events
- MOGA 2020 GC8F5PX is now set for October 10, 2020. John gave updates on the progress thus far.
- Visitor’s center is still closed at this time.
- Lab cache not active there per request.
- Can publish the caches when we want to via permission of the Forest Service, probably early.
- Still need to place punches
- 99 “will attend” logs currently.
- Numbers keep changing due to pandemic.
- GeoCoins and awards have been designed by Jesse Tuttle of AFK Designs.
- Jesse has reassured John that they will be there.
- Visitor’s center is still closed at this time.
- Community Celebration Event will be hosted by John on July 18, 2020 at the Riverside Pavilion at Cliff Cave Park. This will be in place of both the spring and summer picnics. GC8HMMJ
- Concerns on safety for attendees due to Covid-19
- St Louis County Health Department has given us permission. We had to add in a temperature check for attendees.
- See cache page for full information on the requirements.
- Will print out the guidelines for informational purposes.
- Will also have fans due to the heat advisory that will be in effect.
- Attendees will bring their own food and utensils. Do not share with others.
- SLAGA does have masks, hand sanitizer, thermometer, and disinfectant to be used during the event.
- We need to do our due diligence to protect our membership to the best of our ability.
- Set up will be at 9 am.
- Cave tours are still happening via the Parks Department at 10 am and 1 pm.
- Closest to the pin will be the only game for this event.
- Have hand sanitizer easily available in the area.
- Will have three $25 gift cards for premium member attendance prizes.
- Will have two $10 gift cards for closest to the pin winners.
- Community Celebration Event and Fall Picnic is October 31st, 2020 from 9:00am to 4:30pm and is being hosted by Patricia at Love Park in Ballwin MO. GC8HKB0
- Concern about the late event date in regards to the SLAGA fall picnic and the induction of new officers.
Ongoing Business
- Award Coins for SLAGA have been designed by Jesse Tuttle.
- Have not heard from Jesse on the status of these coins.
- Will put this on hold at this time.
- Will revisit later this year.
- Award Coins are now available
- Geocaching.com shop has their new milestone coins available in both 1000 and 5000.
- They are $18.00 per coin
- Need 14 total currently
- Should purchase 10 extra of each
- Uncertain if these can be engraved.
- Is there an engraving spot?
- Will geocaching.com do that or do we need to find someone?
- What pressure do we need in order to not damage the coins?
- Not available at Cache Advance at this time.
- Geocaching.com shop has their new milestone coins available in both 1000 and 5000.
- 20th Anniversary geocoins.
- There are still some flaws, however the organizer believes they should be done by the end of July.
- Volunteers will be needed for the September 12th GC101 class
- We will be following the current guidelines at that time to know what our expectations will be.
Other Business
- SLAGA officers call for nominations for President, Vice President, and Treasurer has been sent out.
- Notices to the nominees have been sent out.
- Have not heard from all of them yet.
- Currently have no accepted nominations for Vice President or Treasurer.
- Voting will be open from July 15- August 31, 2020
- New officers will be announced at the Fall Picnic on October 31, 2020
