Meeting called to order at 6:03 pm.

Motion Called to approve March 2020 minutes by Michael, seconded by Carolyn. As a reminder, there was no April 2020 meeting..

Motion called to approve both March and April 2020 treasurer's report by Carolyn, seconded by Michael.

Events

  • All events for April-June, 2020 have been cancelled or postponed.
  • MOGA 2020 GC8F5PX is now set for October 10, 2020. John gave updates on the progress thus far. 
    • We are continuing on as though the event will go on as scheduled. 
      • Groundspeak is advising reviewers to follow state guidelines when it comes to events.
    • GeoCoins and awards have been designed by Jesse Tuttle of AFK Designs. 
      • Have not heard from Jesse recently about the geocoin situation.
      • Jesse has been informed to go ahead and acquire them.
  • Community Celebration Event will be hosted by John on July 18, 2020 at the Riverside Pavilion at Cliff Cave Park. This will be in place of both the spring and summer picnics. GC8HMMJ
    • Concerns on safety for attendees due to Covid-19
    • Uncertain what the St. Louis County guidelines will be at that time.
      • Social distancing
      • Masks
      • Group sizes for gatherings
      • Bathroom availability
    • Do not want to do a potluck at this time.
    • Attendees will bring their own food and utensils. Do not share with others.
    • SLAGA does have hand sanitizer and disinfectant that can be provided.
    • Maybe have the picnic and divide it into time slots in order to have smaller group sizes as a way to limit the group size if needed.
    • We need to do our due diligence to protect our membership to the best of our ability.
    • John is both the host and reviewer and will send announcements on the status of this event as we get closer to it.

Ongoing Business

  • Award Coins for SLAGA have been designed by Jesse Tuttle. 
    • Have not heard from Jesse on the status of these coins.
  • 20th Anniversary geocoins. 
    • The factory has reopened however they can not get consistent quality on the specialized transparent colors at this time due to worker unavailability. 
  • Would like to find a way to encourage volunteers to work different events. 
    • We are tabling this at this time. Will revisit when appropriate.

Other Business

  • SLAGA officers call for nominations for President, Vice President, and Treasurer has been sent out. 
    • Looking to close nominations by the end of June 2020. 
    • Voting by August 2020
    • We do have nominations for all rolls.
  • Melissa asked about the awards for higher level finds, as we now have both a 20,000 and 25,000.
    • We do not do anything for the 20,000
    • We have done a $50 gift for 25,000 finds.
      • Previous gifts for this have been a personalized walking stick and jacket.
  • GC 101 classes have been cancelled for March and June 2020.
    • There has been no real guidance from the St. Louis County Park leadership at this time on how they would want this to be conducted.
      • Class sizes
      • Classroom available
      • Bathrooms available
      • Social distancing
      • Masks
      • Disinfection procedures. 
    • Again, safety will need to be a top priority for both the volunteers and participants
      • Michael and Bill will get together on this.
    • Next class is scheduled for September 12, 2020.
      • Coincides with Mingo Madness
      • Will need to secure volunteers for this event

New Business

  • Zoom meetings
    • With current events as they stand, meeting in person seems to be on hold for the immediate future.
      • Suggest holding meetings for the immediate future via Zoom
        • Motion was called by Carolyn, seconded by Michael.
        • Will look into prices as well in order to access additional time and other benefits.
