Old Business

  • Newsletter – A newsletter will be scheduled to go out in March 2018, pending receipt of articles.
  • E-mail blast – A save the date email will need to go out in April 2018.
  • Upcoming Events:
    • Spring Picnic – 5/5/18, Spanish Lake. Shelter reservation made and paid for; Michael Rogers has volunteered to host.
    • Summer Picnic – 7/21/18, St. Francois State Park. Mr. Boneparte will be hosting.
    • Fall Picnic – 9/22/18, Greensfelder Park, Dogwood Shelter. The shelter reservation has been made and is paid for, per Laura. Tony Colter will host.
    • 2019 Summer Picnic – Quailman2 (the Nelsons) have requested to host this picnic on their property.
  • Classes
    • Queeny Park – Approximately 20-25 students signed up; Bill taught the class, supported by five volunteer trainers. There was a good deal of participation and many questions during the hour-long lecture, which included a short PowerPoint presentation on smart phone apps. Due to a couple of DNFs right away, it was suggested that in future, volunteers go into the field to verify caches are still in place.
  • Proposed Future Classes – It was suggested that SLAGA investigate changing the park venue for class presentation to possibly include Jefferson Barracks Park.
    • September 15, 2018.
    • December 1, 2018.
    • March 23, 2019.
    • Laura will investigate the availability of these dates and locations with the parks department.
  • SLAGA Geocoin
    • Geocoin – SLAGA still has coins available for purchase. Kathy will post purchase information on the SLAGA Facebook page.
    • Pathtags – Tony is to place an order for tags within a week.
  • Adopt a Park – The CITOs have been published for 3/18/18 and 3/24/18, both Noon-3:00pm. John Elfrank will be available to stay past the event’s end time, should volunteers want to continue working. Volunteers should bring their own tools (no chainsaws), but the St. Louis County Parks will provide gloves and trash bags, while SLAGA will provide water and light snacks.
  • SLAGA Promotional Materials – SLAGA SWAG has arrived and will be available at the next picnic.
  • The SLAGA Trailer needs cleaning and organizing. The officers will stay after the Spring Picnic to work on this project. Kathy will ask John Elfrank to assist.
  • The SLAGA Website has been working well since Dave DeWitt worked on it.

New Business

  • No new business this meeting.

Next Meeting

  • The next meeting will be held May 3, 2018 at Chemical Interchange at 6:00 pm. The officers were unable to come up with a feasible date for all members to attend in April, so it was voted to skip that month.
  • Adjournment
    • Tony motioned for the meeting to be adjourned and it was seconded by Bill. Motion passed unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 7:24 pm.
