SLAGA BOARD MEETING

June 30, 2016

6:00 PM Panera Bread Co

Attendance: Kathy DeWitt, Pete Shaw, Tony Colter, Wend Neal, Laura Million

The June 1st, 2016 Board Meeting Minutes were read. A motion to approve the June 1st, 2016 SLAGA Board Meeting Minutes was made by Tony Colter and seconded by Pete Shaw. Board unanimously approved the minutes.

The tentative Treasurer’s Report from June 2016 was read. Since this board meeting was held on June 30th, the full June Treasurer’s Report will be approved in the August Board meeting. A motion to approve the tentative Treasurer’s Reports was made by Pete Shaw and seconded by Tony Colter. The Board tentatively approved the June 2016 Treasurer’s Reports.

Old Business

  • Brochures: Kathy DeWitt will have a proof to review at next month’s Board meeting
  • Newsletter/email-blast:
    • There will be no Summer Newsletter.
    • Summer Picnic email blast will include nomination announcement
    • Fall Picnic Announcement – August 1st and on September 12th (one week before the picnic), as well as include in all Save Date blast.
    • A “Reminder to vote” email blast will go out on Aug 24th. The last day to vote is August 31st.
  • Upcoming events:

Summer Picnic July 16 2016 Arnold park – The Host needs help to place some caches.

CITO – September 17-25, 2016 – Kathy will ask Korriaan to host CITO

Fall Picnic September 24, 2016 – McDonnell Park-Lindbergh Shelter – Dave will help BlueDaisy get the cache page set up. (Correction September 24th)

GCF-October 15, 2016 – nothing new

  • Halloween event 2016: Kirkwood Park is not available either weekend. SLAGA will check with Webster Grove’s Larson Park.
  • Classes-recap:
  1. Charles county camp, June 14 and June 22 – Pete reports very successful. Assisted Nanonafber69, Sam Britt attended both events. Andrea Shrimp (aschrima) helped place but could not attend. Board discussed giving them memberships to GC.com as thank you. Dave DeWitt will sign them up with Geocaching.com. A motion was made by Tony Colter to pay for two memberships at geocaching.com. Laura Million second the motion. The Board unanimously approved the motion.

Girl Scouts Geocaching Badge, June 25 – Laura Million reports 10 girls and 5 moms attended. Adults interested too.

  • Classes: no upcoming classes
  • SLAGA coin:

             SLAGA coin – Tony Colter is still working on the design.

                Path Tags – the path tags will be ordered when the SLAGA coin design is complete

  • Road trips: Kathy DeWitt announces that the Jack Daniels GeoTrail Road Trip is going to have to be November. She has not set a date yet.
  • Boonslick Geotrail: No new details.
  • Joomla: no update
  • Nominations: Closes at the summer picnic. Steve Bromley will confirm the nomination and will send out the ballots when that is complete.
  • Bellefountaine Cemetery: John Elfrank bought lids for the cache placements. One cache is published.
  • 10,000 award Chairs – Pete Shaw and Wendy Neal will check Sports Authority for chairs before the stores closes for good.

New Business

  • Cachemas – Pete Shaw will head up this year. More details to follow.
