SLAGA BOARDMEETING

Attendance: Kathy DeWitt, Tony Colter, Pete Shaw, Wendy Neal, Laura Million, and Dave DeWitt

The April 4, 2016 Board Meeting minutes were read. A motion to approve the April 4, 2016 SLAGA Board Meeting Minutes was made by Tony Colter and seconded by Wendy Neal. The Board unanimously approved the Minutes.

Treasurer’s report from March 2016 was read. A motion to approve the March Treasurer’s Report was made by Pete Shaw and seconded by Tony Colter. The Board unanimously approved the Treasurer’s report.

Treasurer’s report from April 2016 was read. Change “Website name” to “Domain Name.” A motion to approve the April Treasurer’s Report was made by Tony Colter and seconded by Pete Shaw. The Board approved the Treasurer’s report.

Old Business

• Brochures – Nothing new
• Newsletter/email-blast
  The Spring 2016 Newsletter will go out on Tuesday. Pete Shaw reported that there would be no article for MOGA
• E-mail blasts:
  • Classes – blast a week before event
  • Summer Picnic – will be sent out on third weekend of May
• Past events-recap –
  • CITO-April 16-24 – all events went really well.
  • 4-16-16: Imperial Pet Cemetery 10am - 12:30pm
  • 4-16-16: St. Charles Frontier Park - 12:45pm - 4pm
  • 4-17-16: Lower Meramec 1pm - 3pm
  • 4-24-16: Corp of Engineers land in Hartford, IL 11-3
• Upcoming events
  • Spring Picnic - May 7, 2016 Clydesdale park
    • The meat was ordered – Kathy DeWitt will pick it up.Tony Colter will get the buns & ice.
    • Wendy Neal will purchase the Prizes – attendance, game, premium member drawing and Kathy DeWitt will purchase two remaining gift cards.
    • Dave DeWitt will print up the name tags.
    • Items for Raffle are geo coins, bison tubes, cache containers.
    • Pete Shaw will inventory the trailer and buy what is needed.
    • Hobbit Taz will be in charge of the Travel Bug race.
    • Sale of SLAGA items – shirts for $5 each, geocoins, etc.
    • Kathy DeWitt will print up the officer nomination forms – President, Treasurer and 1 VP positions are up for 2-year term. Secretary and 1 VP are up for 1-year term.
    • Dave will turn on the online form that morning.
  • Summer Picnic - July 16 2016 Arnold park - page to be published soon
  • CITO - September 17-25, 2016 – No new information
  • Fall Picnic 2016 – No date yet. Location will be Robertsville State Park – July 10^th or July 24^th Pete Shaw will call for reservation
  • GCF – October 15, 2016 - Registration now open
  • Halloween event 2016 – looking St Charles or Creve Coeur – more details to follow.

• Classes

  • Publishing – May 21, 2016 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM Tower Grove branch library – same presentation as before

  • Geocaching 101 – May 24, 2016 – St. Louis County Library: Grand Glaze Branch -

  • St. Charles County Camp – June 14 (all day) & June 26 (half day) – Pete Shaw has some volunteers willing to help, but needs someone to help teach. Pete Shaw will contact John Elfrank.

• SLAGA coin – shape of fleur de lis. Tony Colter needs ideas for back of coin

• Pathtags - Kathy reports that there is money in account - $177 – possible path tag with a fleur de lis like the SLAGA coin.

• Road trips

  • Oklahoma Land Run – June 2-6 – 8 or 9 people possible

  • Jack Daniels Geotrail – Kathy DeWit has nothing new to report.

• St. Louis County Park 100 Year Anniversary – no new information

• Geotrail-Lewis & Clark

  • David DeWitt will research the rules for a Geotrail

  • Wendy Neal will contact the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center as a starting/ending point.

  • Mark Coppersmith was working on a Boonslick Geotrail. Kathy DeWitt will reach out to him.

• Geostl.com – Dave DeWitt paid and renewed the domain name for 1 year.

• Joomla – Dave DeWitt will purchase updates when a good sale appears.
