Called to order: 6:13pm

Attendance: Kathy DeWitt, Tony Colter, Pete Shaw, Wendy Neal, Laura Million, Dave DeWitt.

The January 7, 2016 Board Meeting Minutes were read. A motion to approve the January 7, 2016 SLAGA Board Meeting Minutes was made by Laura Million and seconded by Pete Shaw. The Board unanimously approved the minutes.

Treasurer’s report from January 2016 was read. A discussion was held about the need for both the Square and PayPal for payments. A motion was made to cancel the Square and exclusively use PayPal by Tony Colter. Pete Shaw second the motion. The Board unanimously approved the motion. A motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report was made by Tony Colter and seconded by Laura Million. The Board unanimously approved the Treasurer’s report.

Old Business

  • Brochures:
    Pete Shaw asked for pictures to include in the brochure. Dave DeWitt offered to download pictures from the SLAGA webpage for Pete to use.
  • Email-blast:
    • Pi Day – Eckert’s in Belleville and a St. Louis area place to be determined.
    • Leap Day – both the event and pre-order coins
    • Geo-Poker: hosted by the St. Louis County Parks
    • Scavenger Hunt – in southern Illinois. Dave DeWitt will send Laura Million the email containing the information.
    • CITOs – when information becomes available
    • Premium membership perks – listing the perk to encourage new members or basic members to become premium members.
  • Events:
    • Winter Potluck – went well. Everyone liked the new venue. 50/50 drawing - $60; Raffle - $189; Membership - $130; Pre-Sale Leap Day coins - $256; Misc. sales - $316.72
    • Leap Day – Monday, Feb 29, 2016 – Sarah Chisholm will host at J Greene’s from 6pm – 8pm.
    • PI Day – Monday, March 14, 2016 – Pi Day – Wendy will hold a Pi Day at Eckert’s in Belleville. Pete will look for another venue in the St. Louis area.
    • Spring Picnic – May 7, 2016. Korriaan will host the picnic at Clydesdale Park, Hwy 21 and Lindbergh.
    • Summer Picnic 2016 – No date selected but it will be held at Shaw Park, I-170 and Forest Park Blvd.
    • Fall Picnic 2016 – No volunteers to host the event yet. It will be held in Robertsville MO during the weekend of September 10th or 17th.
    • Geocoinfest – October 15, 2016 – No new developments.
    • Halloween event 2016 – No new developments.
  • Classes
    • GSAK 101 – went well
    • GSAK 201 – Pete reported that the room was too small for the crowd. GSAK booklets were available at the Winter Potluck and they went quickly. A digital copy will be made available on the SLAGA web page.
  • Deafest – The board discussed the $300 payment for the booth and decided that it was too much to spend if we are not selling anything. Tony will send an email asking if we can have a space for free to hand out brochures.

New Business

  • PayPal’s Automatic Dues Renewal - A discussion was held about discontinuing the PayPal’s Automatic Payment for dues renewal. Wendy Neal made the motion to discontinue the automatic payment option. Tony Colter seconded the motion. The Board unanimously approved.
  • St. Charles County Park Camps – SLAGA was asked to teach geocaching as several day camps this summer for kids 8 – 14 years old. Some are full day camps and some are half day camps in June. Pete will follow up on this.
  • Road trips – Kathy will get details for the Jack Daniels tour. Laura will plan a MOGA 15 Pyramid trip.
  • Classes – Tony stated that he has had interest in another Publishing course. Date to be determined.
